About the Founder:
Jessica Thompson

"CalmCurrents grew out of my own journey through burnout, anxiety, depression - and PTSD after a home invasion. As a young adult I was dedicated to being a "success-aholic", chaser of titles, and had little time for wellbeing or inner connection. I was working in the NHS, supporting others as part of CAMHS and later with adult IAPT services.
I was trained to hold space for people — but I didn’t yet know how to hold space for myself.

My healing was a slow-burner and very humbling. What got me through? Saying no more, prioritizing my joy and my practices over achievement: gentle yoga, relieving meditation, connection to the seasons, elements and nature, breathwork, community support, and trauma-informed therapy. Transforming to a holistic outlook to my health (body, mind and spirit) helped me find safety in my body again and to recreate my life more aligned with my 'Inner self'.

These experiences reshaped how I now work: with softness, patience, and a deep respect for how the body makes itself heard.

Alongside my background in psychology and NHS clinical work, I draw on experience from holistic practices to stay balanced — Drumming, Qi gong, Kundalini yoga, Reading, Swimming, Shamanic journeying and Energy healing. I aim to support people in a way that feels steady, compassionate, and trauma-aware.

Calm Currents is simply the space I needed myself during my own recovery: a calm, grounding place for people carrying stress or emotional difficulty, where healing is allowed to unfold at its own pace."
